DED makes available more than 1.000 technical assistants to its partner organizations in more than 40 countries, assigned on projects and programmes within the priority areas of German Development Cooperation. Applicants go through a demanding assessment process based on the profile requested by the partner organization. Generally contracts are running for at least two years. DED technical assistants have a common motivation to work with the partner organization locally in a goal-orientated manner, to offer their knowledge and experience in an intercultural context, and to help improve the living conditions of the local people.
